A fan is a device that removes air by increasing the pressure of a gas. It is widely used in our industrial production and has numerous applications in everyday life. "Centrifugal fans are the most common type of centrifugal fan, and the most critical aspect of working with centrifugal fans is their installation. Today, let's take a look at the skills and precautions required when installing centrifugal fans."
A fan is a mechanically driven fluid machine that uses supplied mechanical energy to increase the pressure of a gas and discharge it. Fans are widely used for ventilation, dust removal, and cooling in factories, mines, tunnels, cooling towers, vehicles, ships, and buildings; for ventilation and induction in boilers and industrial furnaces; for cooling and ventilation of household electrical equipment; for drying and sorting grain; for inflating and driving sources in wind tunnels; and also for use in air-supported structures.
The monolithic fan must be installed directly on the foundation and leveled using a pair of diagonal iron shims. For fans assembled on-site, the surface of the support base should be properly protected against corrosion. When installing the base onto the foundation, it must be leveled using pairs of diagonal iron shims. The bearing seat and the base must be tightly connected and correctly positioned.
During the installation of the housing, its position must be aligned relative to the rotor axis, and the axial and radial clearances between the impeller inlet and the housing inlet must be adjusted within the tolerances specified in the equipment’s technical documentation. At the same time, it is essential to verify that the anchor bolts are securely tightened. If the clearance values are not specified in the equipment’s technical documentation, the total axial clearance should be 1/100 of the impeller’s outer diameter, while the radial clearance must be evenly distributed. Its magnitude should fall within the range of 1.5/1000 to 3/1000 of the impeller’s outer diameter (with the smaller of the two values being selected). When adjusting the clearances, efforts should be made to minimize their values in order to enhance the fan’s efficiency.
